Intermission.

I think I may take a break from blogging.  I'm getting to a point where there's not too much of my day to day life that I want to share with the general public!  If I get into any crazy altercations with other sahm's at the park, you'll be the first to know.

If you follow me, then any new post will just be emailed to you...otherwise, I usually update on facebook too.

We're all fine, just have a lot going on.

So go get some snacks and a coke, and I'll be back.

Signing off.

Little Lessons

I am sure if you have ever been, spoken with, or had a parent, you know that parents learn as much from kids and the kids do from parents.

Not like, my 4 year old taught me a cool new way to tie shoes, but in that magical way they see the world through untainted and unbiased eyes that shocks you.

I have learned plenty about myself and life in general from Will.  Patience probably being number one.  I still lose it, oh yes.  But it's so much easier after having Will for me to just wait.

I have learned to just get up earlier to account for the 94 things that will happen to me on the way out the door.

I have learned that even when I am at my wits end, totally frustrated with my child who is clearly trying to push me over the edge of sanity, when I tell him goodnight, and I love him, I mean it with all my heart.  And then I apologize and promise to be a better mother tomorrow.

There's nothing more rewarding then seeing that angel face of his coming in for a hug or kiss.  Unprompted affection can erase a day of strain.

A big thing I have been working on lately is the fact that there's only so much control you can have.  You can't "push" a toddler to do very many things.  Asking repeatedly usually leads to a stall or meltdown...You just have to ask, show, and then wait.  And control is hard to give up.  Especially when the person whose actions you are trying to control is all of 3 feet tall and has half your dna.  I mean, I should win a lot of these battles, right?  Welll....you know.

I think I am turning over a new leaf.  There will still be discipline for blatant disregard for manners and respect, but I'm going to try to do my best to just go with it.  Try my best to get out the door on time.  Put out food options that are "parent and kid approved" and if he doesn't eat, whatever!

The main thing I am backing off of is potty training.  It has been such a roller coaster!  We went from wearing underwear several days a week (days I'm off work) to avoiding the potty like the plague!  He has his own ideas...and if wearing diapers is one of them, then whatever!!

I'm moving on...don't judge.

Well hello there blog!

I am a much worse blogger than I thought I would be, ha!  That being said, we have been very busy lately!!

Here's a rundown...

My brother just moved here from Texas!!  We're so happy to have him close by!  My parents helped him move and when they got here it was the first time the 4 of us "Beechers" have been together in quite a while!  He's been working and saving up for a car, so in the meantime we're getting real familiar with the CAT bus.  (Central AR Transit!)  It's pretty spotty, so John and I do a lot of driving to and fro also.  I think my brother likes it here, he's been really fascinated by the obsession with college football (he got here right on time for that!)  The Razorbacks have a game in town today and he was cracking up at ALL the cars we saw with like, 4 window flags per car!  It gets pretty intense.

Our poor sweet hound dog has been licking his...rear...a lot lately.  Like, a LOT.  So we took him to the vet and he had an "abscessed anal gland"....EW!   We have an awesome vet that we love.  And we're so glad that they are trained to handle stuff like that.  Oh my.  Still gives me the shivers.  He actually had to go in twice this week for "procedures".  Poor guy.  He's a trooper.

The weather has been GOOOORgeous!!!  I mean, ideal.  Windows open, long walks, sighing at the perfect blue sky.  So, that limits the time that I want to blog.  I always thought I was a summer person, but once I became a grown up, and ya know, started paying my own utilities, I decided spring, fall and winter are far superior!  Also since I'm not in school, it doesn't hold the same appeal.  And then there's the strapping-your-kid-into-a-boiling-hot-carseat thing.  Boo.  So bring it on FALL!!!!!

Will and I saw a rainbow tonight on our walk!  It was so pretty and vivid too!  John was doing yard work so we walked home as quickly as possible to make sure Daddy got to see it too!  I think this is the first time Will's ever seen a rainbow that he's actually been old enough to know what it was.  Pretty sweet moment.

Alrighty, well hope it's less than 4 weeks before I drop back in, but you know, I'm sure you're all really busy too.  Here's a cute pic to leave you with....
